Remodeling the Kitchen & Fireplace

In March of 2013 it was time to remodel the kitchen.  This involved knocking down the half wall in front of the sink, taking out/replacing the counter tops and putting in a new surface.  We elected to go with the 18" granite tiles vs. having a company come in to do the full counter top simply because the cost was an order of magnitude more for the granite countertops (ie: thousands of dollars).  We kept the doors because the cabinets overall were in pretty reasonable shape.  Since we were doing the tile in the kitchen we also chose to re-do the tile around the fireplace.  It turned out o.k. - but this is one area which I don't do so well and it probably could stand to be re-done again here soon.
